I love this country. After I moved here, many important things in my life happened here, and I am really grateful for the opportunities this country gave me.
When I told my story about how I immigrated to the United States, many people found it interesting, so I decided to share it here.
Although I always wanted to be an entrepreneur, that’s when I started learning about U.S. immigration laws – and it turned out there was no such thing, like an entrepreneur visa (except for EB-5, but you need Liberians Sugardaddy asking for about one million). I was very shocked. When I was a kidLiberia SugarDaddy, I had read all the stories about it, watched all the stories about people coming to America to start Liberia Sugar Daddy Their own company’s movies. I guess the laws at that time were different from now…
In any case, I had to find another way to immigrate.
Summer in Washington First Liberia Sugar Daddy, I decided to come to the United States in the summer of 2005. There is a program called Work and Travel that allows foreign students to work in the United States during the summer. I searched for 8 months and finally found an offer for a swimming pool management company in Washington, DC. Almost all Russian kids know how to swim in their early childhood, so it wasn’t a problem for me. I got a job as a lifeguard for $7.25 an hour. In June, I Left Washington. Although I spoke English, no one understood me, and I couldn’t understand what others said. I had to spend the first morning at the airport because my flight was so late and the internship company’s office was closed. I only had $600 in my pocket and I didn’t want to spend it in a hotel. I was able to find a bench at the airport that was comfortable enough to even get some sleep before leaving get off work the next day. The first day spent on American soil was not too difficult.
The next day, I started a three-day lifeguard training, and then I started working. Looking back at the situation now, I feel that being a lifeguard may be the best job for foreign students who want to learn English. I get off work seven days a week at a sponsored apartment pool in Northeast Washington. Tenants come to me every day to discuss any recent news or share their stories with friends. By the end of the summer, my English was fluent. I also learned a lot of slang – there were a lot of young people around Washington who could really teach me. I have been threatened multiple times with threats to kill me because I would not allow their Liberians Sugardaddy friends into the swimming pool, only tenants can Come in. In fact, Liberians Sugardaddy was not only a dream job, but it also allowed me to buy food and learn English.
Most of the time, the swimming pool is notLiberia SugarToo many things happened and I started reading a lot. First, I read all the forums and blogs on the subject of immigration to the United States. It turns out that for me, the only legal way to immigrate is through employment. I also realized that in order for me to get a “real” job, I would need to more or less stand out from other foreign students, and I began preparing for the Zend Standard Certification. When I returned home in September, I quickly passed the test and became the first PHP certified engineer in Russia. I updated my resume with new information, and I started looking for a “real American job.”
Looking for tasks is cruel. I spent all my time working, studying and looking for a job. And obviously, the only condition I can rely on is a trainee. I received a lot of responses, but when people figured out I was in Moscow at the time, they politely declined my request. A few months later, I received an offer from a small company in Boston, but I declined because: 1) it was only $8 an hour; 2) I didn’t want to move in Liberia Sugar DaddyBoston. I received another job offer in Miami, which was where I really wanted to go, but after a while I realized it was a lie, so I changed my mind about the Boston offer, and in May 2006 , I left Boston, and my “personal work” American personal work life began.
The first trainee has a good job. It was just me and the founder of the company in a cramped office in Copley Square. I quickly proved myself and became a valuable asset to the company. I remember how surprised my boss was when I completed my first assignment in my first shift, thinking it would take weeks of my time. I worked so hard all summer that at the end of the summer I was able to ask to come back again for a “real” job the following year. My plans are well underway. My boss was very impressed with me and I received a long-distance assignment, which was nice of me. When I arrived in Moscow, I started studying during the day and working at night. The eight-hour time difference between Boston and Moscow makes this a snap. I also received a raise, to $10 an hour, which was more than most of my college classmates.
H-1b Intentions In March 2007, I first begged my boss to request a mission visa. For those who are not Liberia Sugar familiar with H-1b: only the employer can apply, and there is only one opportunity a year (in April ). There are some restrictions on the issuance of H-1b visas every year. Unfortunately, the economy was really good that year and there were so many people requesting this type of visa.Visa. The government decided to toss a coin to select the applicant (really like a lottery), and I lost. Well, I went back to Boston the next summer and worked for 3 months. The pay increased to $12 an hour—not bad!
In March 2008, we again requested H-1b visas. A strange scene happened: too many people bought lottery tickets, but luck did not come to me, which was really frustrating. I think the most frustrating thing about the H1-b visa is that if you lack luck, the only thing you can do is wait until the next year. Spent another summer in Boston, then headed to Moscow.
Simultaneously with moving to Boston, in 2008, I completed my Masters in Computer Science and received my one-year J-1 LR Escorts “Trainer” visa. Since I wasn’t able to get my H-1b visa in 2008, I had to plan for 2009. The problem is, even though fate favored me in 2009, the H-1b visa expired in October, and my J-1 visa expired in May, so I had to get another visa in the meantime.
Babson College The most feasible option for me was to get an F-1 “full-time student” visa, but I had to study something. I no longer wanted to study computer science, so I asked myself: What do I want to study? The answer is quite clear to me. I want to be an entrepreneur, so I want to study business management. What surprises me most is that the best corporate management university in the United States is located in the Boston area. It’s not Harvard or MIT. Babson College had been the absolute leader in business management rankings for many years, so I decided I had to attend that school. I spent Liberia Sugar several months preparing for the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). I basically devoted all my time outside of work. Although the math course is definitely not difficult for me, English is a flaw and I just can’t understand it in some places. However, I scored 660 on the test, which was good enough to get into Babson College. I decided to apply for their evening MBA program, and since I couldn’t afford the tuition, I planned to use my Liberians Escort Salary pays for tuition. I asked my boss to increase my salary, but he said “he can’t afford it.” On the other hand, for me, a $25K per year salary is really hard to pay for every credit Liberia Sugar Daddy 1,100 USD required expenses (I needed 60 credits to graduate). I didn’t have the standard to ask for a student deposit yet, so I Liberians Sugardaddy used my life savings to save money in many places to pay Tuition. Looking back, I’m really glad I made this choice – I graduated from Babson College with zero savings, but it was a tough two years and it was totally worth it. Just like that, in January 2009, I took my first class at Babson College, and a new chapter in my American dream began.
H-1b In April 2009, I finally got the good news – my H-1b visa was finally approved! Even though I couldn’t easily change employers, I had some conditions, so I started looking for a job. It only took me a few weeks to get an offer, which I accepted. The new job, a five-minute drive from Babson College Liberians Sugardaddy, brings an annual salary of $35K—more than what you earn now 40%. I still remember the day I had to tell my boss that I was changing assignments. He was very kind to me and I knew the company needed me, so my resignation was a serious blow. I explained to my boss the reasons why I left Liberia Sugar and all my dissatisfaction with the company and my salary. He said, “Ilya “If you have a problem, you should tell me. You just kept silent and never mentioned it to me. I hope you can tell me sooner.” Years later I still have flashbacks to this conversation, and I learned the lesson: If you’re unhappy about something—speak up.
Eyeing a company in the H-1b phase? Don’t take too big a step, kid. What’s shocking to me is that even with Liberia Sugar Daddy I can’t get an H-1b visa. Not as good as starting your own company. I consulted some lawyers and they all told me that it would be troublesome if I formed a company in the United States. This is really frustrating. I don’t understand why the US government doesn’t allow this. After all, small businesses account for 60%-80% of all U.S. jobs. Why does the government prohibit people from starting their own companies? I had no answers and began to consider my options. I need to get a green card, but for me, the only way is to ask my employer. The problem is that most employers receive little benefit at all. When you have H-Liberia Sugar1b visa, they can pay you very low salary (I am a perfect example), And your chances of finding another job are low. When I got the opportunity, it was really hard work – I asked my boss at the time to apply for my greenLR Escorts card . They said, “No problem, we’ll talk about it later.” I tried to get a clear moment, but there was none. So when a Nokia recruiter contacted me, I immediately answered the call. At that time, Nokia was to Russia what Google was to America. We grew up with Nokia (I think my mother still had a Nokia). What’s more, the annual salary they offered me was $75K, plus a $5K tuition subsidy. The fantasy came true.
After I started working at Nokia, I had Liberians Escort all the hopes for getting a green card. We started the process and went through some phases, but Nokia really declined. After several rounds of layoffs, my green card process was also revoked. The whole idea of getting an employment-based immigrant green card is that the employer says they can’t find an American to fill the position. Obviously, when a company has these layoffs, it’s really hard to get through.
I am starting to seriously consider moving to Canada or Australia where one can Liberians SugardaddyAccurate and obtain permanent residence status, such as education, English skills, experience, etc. I easily earned enough points and moved there immediately.
Offer, offer! Now that the possibility of getting a green card at Nokia was close to zero, I had to consider moving to another company. Where do all the technical entrepreneurs want to go? Silicon Valley, of course. By that time I had graduated from Babson College with an MBA, so nothing tied me to Boston anymore.
A friend introduced me to some companies in Silicon Valley. I left San Francisco in September 2011 and had 6 interviews in 3 days. When I returned to Boston, there were 4 offers in my mailbox. Wow! At the time I had no idea how difficult it would be to find a developer in the San Francisco Bay Area, so I was really excited when I got these offers. I made some considerations. Since my ultimate goal isMy dream was to become an entrepreneur, so I decided to join the smallest company that made me an offLiberians Sugardaddyer. The company was called Torbit, and I was the first employee after the two founders. After some email exchanges, I accepted the offer. I often imagine what it would be like today if I accepted an offer from another company – and I’ve actually interviewed at a number of really good companies, including:
PintLiberians Escorterest (I think the idea is terrible)
Optimizely
Slideshare (acquired by LinkedIn)
Credit Karma (great product, I use it myself)
Elacarte
California Treasure In October 2011, my wife and I packed our bags and drove across the United States for the entire journey. The trip was great, we passed Mount Presidential and the Northern Route of Yellowstone National Park, it was easily one of the best trips we have ever taken. On November 1st, I started working at Torbit. From the beginning, I knew very clearly that I needed a green card. Again, work hard and try to prove yourself. Once again, no work is actually produced. The company’s priorities are clearly different. I started to communicate with the founder many times, and I felt that I knew more than the CTO. We had conflicts almost every dayLiberians Escort. Part of it was definitely my fault, but looking back, I just wasn’t fit to be there. I wanted to join, but I couldn’t – under the terms of the H-1b, you couldn’t join – you had to find the next job, and I was tired of looking for a job.
Immigration Visa Lottery At that time, I got my green card… and I won the lottery. There is indeed a “lottery immigrant visa” program that gives you a chance to win a green card just through a lottery. Your chances are based on the country you were born in, mine was always about 1.2%. Even though I apply every year, I really never dare to think that I will win. However, it just won the lottery!
Our interview is scheduled for April 26th (Thursday), and we hope to pass. The interview is in the morning. I plan to go to work after the interview and then send a notice to the founder. The result is not that difficult. My wife’s request went through, but I was stuck on “background investigation,” so I had to wait a few weeks at least. unfavorable! i really hateMy job, I want to leave, but I can’t do it. Therefore, I was given help internally. On Friday, the two founders invited me to go for a walk with them, and for the first time in my life, I was fired! It felt nothing at the moment, but I was stupid then. I don’t have a green card and I was laid off. This means I only have 30 days to find another job or get my green card, otherwise, I will be violating the terms of my H-1b visa. However, I didn’t start looking for a new job. On April 28, 2012, the first few lines of Datanyze code were written, and I didn’t want to worry about other work. Two weeks later, we received our green cards and everything was going as good as before.
After a few years, Datanyze paid more taxes, I was able to earn my salary, employed over 30 people, and continued to grow steadily. If you ask, where would I change the U.S. immigration system, it would be to issue some sort of entrepreneur visa. I know there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of people like me who are planning to start their companies, hire people, pay taxes, and drive the economy in America, but they are not like meLiberians EscortHonoured, so they all do it abroad. I really hope that this situation can change one day. As I mentioned at the beginning, the United States to me has always been a country where entrepreneurs from all over the world come to realize their dreams, but I feel that the current immigration situation The near-orbit system is definitely not suitable for this situation.
